Siddharth Roy
Sipping on my coffee, I leisurely scanned the passersby, hoping for a flicker of interest in a sea of faces. Yet, none captivated my attention; they all seemed to fall into the categories of either too dull or too bright for my liking. A couple locked in a passionate embrace nearby caught my eye, and I couldn't help but mutter, "Snogging each other like dogs," with a bemused expression.
With a nonchalant shrug, I redirected my gaze in search of something more worthy of my attention but found myself confronting the randomness of the place instead. Lost in my thoughts, I was abruptly interrupted by a sudden impact on my shoulder.
"What's up, man? What are you looking at? Those asses or those ti-"
"Seriously, zip it. I have better things to occupy my vision. And let me warn you, I'm just a moment away from decorating your face with my fist if you touch me again," I interjected, shutting down the annoying companion beside me. Shane, the ever-energetic and perpetually noisy mate who had somehow latched onto me for an unforeseeable eternity, remained undeterred by my warning.
"Easy tiger!! What got your mood so down in the dumps so early in the morning? Is the coffee not bitter enough." Shane joked, or at least tried only to have my glaring eyes at him. He is sure a pain in the ass.
"Do you ever shut up?" before he could answer I heard my name being called in a shrill grating voice that made my ears cry for help. I didn't need to turn to know who the voice belonged to. I waited for the excitement personified to come and blabber something I had no interest in.
"Hi, Handsome" Cherry gleamed, running her freshly manicured hand on my shoulder. I masked up my annoyance and gave her what she needed, my attention.
"Hi, Pretty. Goodness, look at you looking like Peitho." I could see my words play their effect as she smiled bashfully and hit me for praising her. For god's sake, she wanted that. Seriously, it is hard to understand girls. It would be clear on their faces that they liked certain things, but it somehow is mandatory to act to not like them. Why? If you like it, accept it and just say thank you.
"Siddharth, stop. " She blushed profusely at my compliment. "Can I sit here?" she asked me in her annoying voice. I would not lie; she is beautiful and sexy, with the thickness in the right proportion at the right places, but her voice was not tolerable to me.
"And where else do you wish to go pretty?" Smirking playfully, I engaged in some flirtatious banter with her, reveling in the teasing smile she gave me as she settled in the chair beside me. As her voice grew more dominant, I noticed Shane's sudden silence. I turned to look at him and couldn't help but chuckle at his open-mouthed expression, as though he had never seen a girl before. With a sly grin, I lightly hit his shin to redirect his attention to me, prompting him to close his gaping mouth with an uncertain smile.
"Siddharth, my girls and I are planning a camping night out. We'd love for you to join us... and your friends too," she said, a hint of reluctance in her voice when mentioning my friends. I paid little heed to that, as the allure of the invitation was too irresistible. Without hesitation, I agreed to join them, knowing nothing could impede my excitement.
"Anything to make a beautiful girl like you smile." I philandered with my signature charming smile. She delightedly applauded, feigning a joyous innocence that I played along with. As she rose, leaning in closely to his face, she planted a kiss on my cheek before trailing her hand down my chest with a suggestive smirk. In response, I mirrored her actions, returning the smile with my own.
"Dude, she has to be the hottest girl on the campus" Shane commented watching her, or rather staring at her in a way that screamed anything but appreciation.
"She is hot, not the hottest" I pointed. She may be attractive, but let's not get carried away - there are plenty of hidden gems strolling around that campus. Some are just waiting to be discovered by me, while others are hiding behind glasses and textbooks.
"Are you serious? Did you even take a good look at her?" Shane asked, clearly shocked by my opinion.
"Sorry, buddy. She's got something going on, but there are definitely more fish in the sea," I replied. Shane wisely decided to end the debate as we headed to class. English class was a blast until it became a chore. Seriously, why do we have to keep dissecting old texts? Can't we just let them rest in peace?
Passing by the hallways, I was greeted by many, boys and girls alike. I guess it is what they call 'pretty privilege' means. You are given a pass through everything, just because you got some charms. I might not believe in the theory, but goodness do I like the benefits it reaped for me. Hell Yeah. Every second of it. Shane was no less as he got someone to tag along, and soon I was walking along the path to my class. Plugging my earphones I play the hit button letting the music flow. Not liking the song, I tried shuffling through the various playlist only to bump head-first into someone, that smelled flowers, and was...what the hell?
I was amazed at the abrupt rise of thoughts and looked at the person who had decided to forget her eyes back at home.
"You need to learn to use your eyes." before I could make any remark, I was slapped one across my face. I glared hard at her. Out of everyone why her?
"I can say the same," I grumbled, seeing her smile at me, a forced smile.
"Go ahead"
"What?"
"You said you can say the same, so go ahead, because I feel you have got your empty coconut head with no eyes and use to college. If you please excuse me." she sassed and gave me a sickening smile before making her through the rows of chairs only to settle at the last chair.
"I hate this girl. Sana Singhania, you better be ready to face me." I entered the class and aimlessly threw my bag, happy that it hit the aim - her 'oh-so-perfect-face'
Siddharth Roy, the self-proclaimed bad boy of the college, is a curious character indeed. With his leather jacket and devil-may-care attitude, he exudes a certain aura of mystery and danger that has all the girls swooning. However, his reputation precedes him as he is known for his rebellious antics and disregard for authority. From skipping classes to getting into fistfights with fellow students, Siddharth's wild behavior always keeps things interesting on campus. Despite his rough exterior, there is a charm about him that is undeniable; maybe it's the way he confidently struts down the hallways or how effortlessly he flirts with everyone who crosses his path.
